Get cozy in cooler temps with a warm cup of cocoa, Quady style! This cherry hot chocolate cocktail recipe mixes in the rich & rosy berry flavors of Elysium Black Muscat Dessert Wine for a sweet twist on a homemade classic. Just like a bouquet of roses and a box of chocolate-covered cherries, this adult hot chocolate is a treat that’ll give your palette a taste of wintertime romance.
Ingredients:
3 cups Elysium Black Muscat
3 oz. dark chocolate, finely chopped
2 oz. milk chocolate, finely chopped
1 cup bing or rainier cherries, halved and pitted
¼ cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick
½ cup cream
1½ cups of milk
2 pinches of salt
Whipped cream
Preparation:
Place Elysium, sugar and cinnamon stick in a saucepan and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Add the cherries and reduce the heat. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
Next remove the cinnamon stick and strain the cherries to separate from the liquid. Set the cherries aside in a separate bowl.
In another bowl, add milk, cream and salt, and mix. Pour into a saucepan and heat until the milk begins to simmer along the edges of the pan, stirring occasionally and scraping the bottom of the pan with a rubber spatula to prevent the milk from scorching.
Remove from heat and pour into a bowl, along with the chopped dark and milk chocolate pieces. Whisk until melted.
Add in the Elysium syrup and whisk until creamy and smooth.
Pour into a mug and top with fresh whipped cream and the Elysium-soaked cherries. Enjoy!
Tip: This cherry hot chocolate cocktail can be made ahead of time and refrigerated, then reheated by stove or microwave when ready.
