There are a couple of stories about the origins of this cocktail. One says it was created at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris in 1924. The term “Scofflaw” was originally used to deride speakeasy visitors. The barman at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris had a rebuttal to the derisive term in the form of a delicious cocktail.
