This elegant classic was created in the 1890s in Japan to please visiting dignitaries from the West. In this version, Vya Extra Dry Vermouth creates a a fresh and smooth sensory experience, and harmonizes with the complex, nutty notes of an amontillado sherry style wine. It is a light, low-alcohol quaff that pairs well with appetizers, making it the perfect before dinner treat.
1 1/2 oz Vya Extra Dry Vermouth
1 1/2 oz Palomino Fino (Quady’s amontillado sherry style)
2 dashes orange bitters
2 dahses angostura bitters
twist lemon
garnish: olive
Pour Vya Extra Dry and Palomino Fino into a mixing glass filled with ice. Add the bitters. Stir well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist a lemon peel over the drink to release its essence. Garnish with an olive.
