Roasted Plum Manhattan Cocktail
The Manhattan recipe is one of the building blocks of modern mixology. Without changing the recipe proportions you can simply create a new and interesting drink experience by infusing the spirit with fruit or herbs. Roasting plums to infuse them in your whiskey pulls out tangy flavors of the fruit, adding a sweet and savory quality to your classic Manhattan cocktail.
Roasted Plum Manhattan
- 2 oz plum infused whiskey (rye or bourbon)
- 1 oz Vya Sweet Vermouth
- 2 dashes Orange Bitters
- Orange twist
Add ingredients in a glass of ice. Stir for 10-20 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail coupe and twist a swatch of orange zest.
Roasted plum infused whiskey:
- Preheat the oven at 400F. Place 1 cup of pitted, sliced plums on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake plums until caramelized (10-12 minutes)
- Allow the plums to cool.
- Place cooled plum in in a ball glass jar (or another glass container) glass container. Top the roasted plums with whiskey. Store in cool, dry place and allow infusing overnight (2- 14 hours)
- When ready, strain the mix using a fine mesh or strainer.
