Quady Awarded “Honorary Winery of the Year”
Quady Winery was proudly awarded “Honorary Winery of the Year” at the vinNEBRASKA wine event on April 1, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska. Every year the vinNEBRASKA committee selects an Honorary Winery based on past and current winery participation, support for the event and reputation within the wine industry.
“Quady Winery and the Quadys have been long time supporters and are outstanding representatives of the wine industry, well deserving of the recognition of Honorary Winery of the Year,” explains Dennis Hein, Executive Committee Member of vinNEBRASKA. The award was presented by Mr. Hein and Deb Denbeck, Executive Director of Partnership 4 Kids, a local organization focused on elevating children out of poverty through mentorship and education. Dennis also commented that, “vinNEBRASKA has raised more than $5 million dollars for local charities since its inception and the Quadys have played a significant role in the fundraising.”
This year, Quady Winery donated a “Five Day Trip to Yosemite” as a silent auction item which earned the charity an impressive $4,000 contribution. The silent auction package included airfare for two, a welcome and farewell dinner at Andrew and Laurel Quady’s home, two nights stay at the winery guesthouse, transportation to and from Yosemite, meals and two nights accommodations in Yosemite Valley.
“About 10 years ago Laurel and I accepted the invitation to show our wines at VinNEBRASKA, a charity wine tasting, dinner, and auction benefiting Partnership for Kids. The charity has been very successful. One of our old friends from our UC Davis years, Stu Smith, from Smith Madrone winery, acts as auctioneer at the VinNEBRASKA tasting and auction. We like that the event takes place in Omaha, Nebraska is where our family has roots. My father grew up there attending Central High School,” shared Andrew Quady.
Twenty-four vintners provided wine tasting and the event included over 100 premier silent and live auction packages all to benefit Partnership 4 Kids (P4K). “Our table was especially popular – lots of people coming back to try Electra and the Vya Vermouth half and half vermouth cocktail,” explains Andrew Quady. Metro Magazine’s readers have voted vinNEBRASKA’s wine event “Best of Omaha for Food & Wine” multiple times. The event draws over 700 attendees and is the leading wine event in the region.
